Company Information: Comfortex was founded in 1986 by Thomas J. Marusak and John Schenebly to manufacture window coverings for greenhouse windows. Comfortex expanded its operations in 1995, and relocated from Cohoes, New York to a nearby 100,000 square foot facility in Maplewood. Then, in 1996, Comfortex purchased Royal Wood, a manufacturer of proprietary wood alloy products extruder located in Phoenix, Arizona.
Today, Comfortex continues to manufacture high quality window treatments operating as a wholly - owned, independent subsidiary of the Hunter Douglas company. Comfortex believes that independent retailers are the key to the future of the custom window treatment market. Therefore, Comfortex distributes its brand name through the Composer Alliance of independent retail fabricators. A program created by Comfortex in 1992 to provide independent window treatment retailers with the best opportunity to compete against National Retailers and other large competitors. The Composer program has since been expanded and is now the Comfortex BlindCrafter Program - a turn-key, brand name program for fabricating, marketing, and promoting high quality, innovative custom window treatment products, offering market control and profit advantage.
