Company Information: Conrad was founded fifty years ago by Edie Conrad. Edie began her business by importing “Biri-Weaves” from her native Norway. These are hand woven wall coverings made by interweaving wheat and barley strands with silk and linen fibers. After traveling to Asia in the 60’s, she discovered the “skilled artisans and exotic natural fibers of Asia and a collection of hand-woven window coverings was born.”
Today CONRAD offers roman fold shades, custom drapery, cornices, a Sliding Panel Shade System, and a line of drapery designed for outdoor living spaces. All products are handcrafted and available through designers, architects and fine window covering stores. In 2007, the Tahoe Collection (Woven of 100% solution-dyed acrylic) of roman fold shades from Conrad was awarded Interior Design's Best of Year award! This design competition recognizes superior interior design projects and products in more than 50 categories.
